Like anyone with good taste, I love almost everything that comes from Boysnoize Records. Strip Steve has been doing the label proud with some savvy techno beats. Here, he offers us something a little different. I’ll just toss you the description because it definitely does a better job than I can.
After his first “Stomp” in 2012 it’s time for the true first single “Astral Projection” out of his upcoming debut album “Micro Mega” (out in June)! For the new single Strip Steve is teaming up with the lucid and wild eyed dream-pop band Puro Instinct, young protégées of living legend Ariel Pink, straight outta sunny Southern California. Unlike his more dancefloor tunes ‘Stomp/Mother Circuit’ (BNR078), Strip Steve is taking us here on a trip painting lingering psychedelic-noir disco pop.
‘Astral Projection’ goes more to the root and encapsulates musical influences from The Beach Boys, Chic, and modern disco like Amplified Orchestra, highlighting the fact how versatile and multi-faceted Strip Steve’s musical approaching can be. It’s the flirtyness with fragile lucency and the infantile embracement of the simple and still undiscovered popformula which leaves the song grow and breathe on its own. This cocktail is best served by the beauty of your own imagination.
Micro Mega is due June 25, and we look forward to seeing how that full release pans out.
